A data feed lets you bulk upload and manage items in your catalog using a spreadsheet file. Your file needs to contain certain required fields that represent information about your items, like title, description and price. Fields are different depending on the type of items you sell. To create your file, you can download a template that includes the required fields and fill it in.
Download a template for your data feed
To download a template:
- Go to Commerce Manager and select your catalog.
- Open the Catalog tab and go to Data Sources.
- Select Add Items. If a dropdown appears, select Add Multiple Items.
- Select Data Feed followed by Next.
- Under Is your spreadsheet or file ready?, select No, I need a Facebook template and then Next.
- Select Build Template or Download Template. If you sell products, you can either choose a standard template or select one or more relevant product categories to build a custom template (recommended). If you sell another type of inventory such as hotels or vehicles, the standard fields are automatically included.
You've downloaded a template in CSV format. You can now fill it in to get it ready to upload to your catalog.
Fill in your template
To fill in your template:
- Open the CSV file you just downloaded in a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel. Note: You can also import your file to Google Sheets.
- Open the data feed specifications in a new tab or window. You'll need to refer to these as you fill in your template.
- Review your template. Your header row contains fields as column names. Don't change the field names because they must stay in US English and match the specifications exactly. The rows below will contain information about each of your items. You must provide information for all the required fields. You can keep the fields marked as optional, or delete them.
- Delete any example rows in your template and replace them with real information about your items. Some fields support free text and others only support certain values, so make sure to follow the field descriptions in the specifications carefully to avoid errors. Your file may look something like this:
